Overview

Marlon is a villager who lives in the Adventurer’s Guild north of Pelican Town. He works the counter inside the guild and is the main point of contact for selling monster drops from the Mines. Players first meet him when they enter the Mines for the first time, at which point he gives them a Rusty Sword and tells them to start exploring the mine levels. Access to the Adventurer’s Guild is locked until the player completes the Initiation quest.

The Adventurer’s Guild is open from 2:00 pm to 2:00 am, and Marlon can usually be found behind the counter during those hours. He does not normally leave his post, except during town festivals, when the Guild closes completely. He lives there with Gil, who is usually seated nearby.

Marlon cannot receive gifts, so friendship with him cannot be raised through the usual gift-giving system. Instead, his main functions are tied to combat progression and recovery. If the player purchases a Slime Hutch, Marlon will later visit and give a Slime Egg to help start a slime breeding setup.

One of Marlon’s most useful services is Item Recovery Service. If the player passes out from low health in the Mines, Quarry Mine, Skull Cavern, or Volcano Dungeon, Marlon can hold one lost item for recovery in the Adventurer’s Guild menu. The recovered item costs the same amount it would have sold for in the Shipping Box. Lost items remain available only until the player passes out again from low health, at which point the list is replaced by any new losses. If the day ends at 2:00 am, the items themselves are not lost; only the gold penalty is applied.

During the Desert Festival, Marlon also offers two Skull Cavern quests each day at random from the following set:

  • Monster Hunt: defeat 10 Serpents, Purple Slimes, or Mummies.
  • Deep Dive: reach level 30 of the Skull Cavern.
  • Treasure Hunt: collect either 12 Omni Geodes or 15 Iridium Ore.

Marlon’s role makes him especially important for players who spend time in dangerous caves and dungeons. He serves as both a vendor for monster loot and a safety net for item recovery, while also acting as an occasional quest-giver during festival content.
