Overview

Iridium Ore is a resource used primarily for smelting Iridium Bars, and it is one of the most valuable ores in the game. It can be obtained from a wide range of sources, but the most reliable supply comes from mining Iridium Nodes and Mystic Stones. Iridium Nodes appear in the Quarry, Skull Cavern, and Volcano Dungeon, and they can also spawn on Hill-top and Four Corners farm maps once Mining reaches level 10. Mystic Stones can also yield it in the Mines starting at Floor 100, as well as in the Quarry, Skull Cavern, and Volcano Dungeon.

The chance to find Iridium Ore rises steadily the deeper the player goes into the Skull Cavern, so deep dives are the best way to gather large amounts quickly. Using staircases or bombs can accelerate progress to deeper levels. It can also be obtained by opening Magma Geodes, Omni Geodes, and Golden Coconuts, by panning in any area, from rare drops by several high-level monsters, or from breaking crates and barrels in the dangerous Mines and Volcano Dungeon. A fallen meteorite on the farm drops 10 Iridium Ore when mined, and the Statue Of Perfection provides 2–8 per day after Grandpa’s Evaluation rewards four candles. The Traveling Cart may occasionally sell it, and some fish pond quests can request it as well.

Iridium Ore can be smelted in a Furnace to create an Iridium Bar, requiring 5 Iridium Ore and 1 Coal and taking 8 in-game hours. It is also used in crafting-related systems and trading: five Iridium Ore can be exchanged with the Desert Trader for 1 Mega Bomb. In tailoring, it can be used in the Sewing Machine to create the Iridium Energy Shirt, and it also serves as a purple dye in dye pots and as an iridium dye ingredient when combined with dyeable clothing.

  • When used with Slingshots, Iridium Ore deals more damage to monsters than any other ammunition.
  • Swinging at ore enemies with a sword is the most effective strategy.
  • They emerge from the ground, wander aimlessly, and slowly move toward the player, damaging the player on contact; their behavior is the same as Stone Golems.

Iridium Ore also appears in quest and farm production contexts. Rainbow Trout, Spook Fish, Super Cucumber, or Void Salmon may request one in a Fish Pond quest to increase the pond’s capacity from 7 to 10, and Marlon may request 15 during the Desert Festival quest “Treasure Hunt.” Purple Slimes in the Skull Cavern can drop it, Iridium Bats and Iridium Crabs may drop it there as well, and Iridium Golems have a chance to drop it, with additional drop chances after Combat level 10.
