Iridium Bar

An Iridium Bar is a metal bar primarily produced by smelting 5 Iridium Ore and 1 Coal in a Furnace. It is one of the game’s most valuable refined materials, and it has many uses across tool upgrades, crafting, construction, trading, quests, tailoring, and special purchases.

Iridium Bars are required for the final upgrade of every regular tool: the Hoe, Pickaxe, Axe, Watering Can, Trash Can, and Pan. They are also used in a number of high-end crafting recipes, including the Iridium Sprinkler, Iridium Band, Crystalarium, Slime Incubator, Wedding Ring, Deluxe Fertilizer, Hopper, Statue Of The Dwarf King, and Mini-Forge. In building and farm infrastructure, they are needed for the Slime Hutch and the four Obelisks: Earth, Water, Desert, and Island.

The bar is also tied to several progression and utility systems. Three Iridium Bars are required to re-forge Trinkets. In tailoring, an Iridium Bar can be used with Cloth at the Sewing Machine to create an item, can serve as the iridium dye ingredient for dyeable clothing, and can be placed in the purple dye pot at Emily’s and Haley’s house. It also appears in quest and request content: the Wizard asks for one by mail in the “Staff of Power” quest, one is requested for a Lava Eel Fish Pond quest to expand capacity from 7 to 10, and Willy’s Boat repair needs 5 Iridium Bars to fix the anchor.

Iridium Bars can be obtained in a variety of other ways besides smelting. They can drop from Purple Slimes, Shadow Shamans, Shadow Brutes, Iridium Bats, and Iridium Golems on the Wilderness Farm map. They can also be found in Golden Fishing Treasure Chests and Skull Cavern treasure rooms, received from the Statue Of Endless Fortune on days that are not a villager’s birthday, earned as a Prize Machine reward, bought from the Traveling Cart, received from Clint during the Feast of the Winter Star, and purchased from Maru’s shop at the Desert Festival for Calico Eggs.

They also function as trade currency in the Desert Trader’s stock. Iridium Bars can be exchanged for the Warp Totem: Desert recipe, the Midnight Beach Bed, and the Midnight Beach Double Bed. Because so many late-game systems demand them, Iridium Bars are one of the most important resources to stockpile once the player reaches reliable access to Iridium Ore.
