Acorn

Acorn is a seed that grows into an Oak Tree. It can be found by shaking or chopping down Oak Trees once Foraging level 1 is reached, searched from Garbage Cans, or dug up with an Axe or Pickaxe after a fully grown Oak Tree drops one on The Farm. In a Woodskip Fish Pond, one to five acorns can also be produced once the pond population reaches 9.

Acorns can be planted in tillable ground outside The Farm, but the tile must be un-tilled before planting. Like other tree seeds, an acorn grows through five stages. During Spring, Summer, and Fall, it has about a 20% chance to advance one stage each night, with a median maturity time of roughly 18 days and more than 90% of seeds reaching maturity within 32 growing days. Tree Fertilizer guarantees one stage of growth each night, including in Winter, making it the most reliable way to speed up an Oak Tree.

Acorns have several uses beyond planting:

• Ten Acorns may be selected as one of the Community Center bundle options.
• They can be used in the Sewing Machine spool to create clothing.
• They can be placed in dye pots in Haley's and Emily's house as an orange dye.
• Several Fish Pond quests may request two or three Acorns.

Because Oak Trees are a major source of wood and Oak Resin, acorns are worth keeping even when they are not needed immediately. They are especially useful early in the game, when planting a few acorns can establish a steady supply of future trees. Since they can be gathered from tree shaking and foraging, they are also easy to stockpile while traveling through wooded areas or clearing the farm.
