Green Bean

Green Bean is a crop grown from Green Bean Starter during Spring. Like other climbing crops, it takes up a tile and then continues growing upward, so it cannot be walked through at any stage of growth. Once mature, it can be harvested and will regrow every 3 days, making it a repeating source of produce for the rest of the season.

The growth cycle is 10 days total before the first harvest: Stage 1 and Stage 2 each last 1 day, Stage 3 lasts 1 day, Stage 4 lasts 3 days, and Stage 5 lasts 4 days. After that, the plant enters its harvest state and can be picked repeatedly after each 3-day regrowth period. Dead Green Bean plants can be walked through.

Green Beans have several uses beyond shipping or cooking:

• They are used in one Community Center bundle.
• Five gold-quality Green Beans may be one of the options for the quality crops bundle.
• They can be used in the Sewing Machine with Cloth to create a dyeable clothing item.
• When used in the Sewing Machine with a dyeable clothing item, Green Bean acts as a green dye.
• They can also be placed in the green dye pot at Emily and Haley’s house for dyeing.
• During Spring, a Green Bean may be randomly requested on the Help Wanted board outside the general store for a reward of gold and 150 friendship points.

Because Green Beans regrow, they are most valuable when planted early enough in Spring to produce multiple harvests. Their vertical growth also makes placement important, since any path that depends on walking through the crop row will be blocked until the plant dies.
