Common Mushroom

The Common Mushroom is a forageable mushroom found in several places throughout Stardew Valley, most reliably in Fall. It can be gathered while foraging in the valley during Fall, found in the Secret Woods in Spring and Fall, in the Forest Farm during Summer and Fall, and inside the mushroom cave on Ginger Island. It can also appear by searching garbage cans during Fall, by growing from Wild Seeds (Fa), from the mushroom bins in the Farm Cave if the mushroom option was chosen, from tapping a Mushroom Tree, from a Mushroom Log, and on floors 41–69 of the Mines while the Shrine of Challenge is active or during the Danger in the Deep quest.

This item has a few practical uses beyond its role as a forage item. Putting a Common Mushroom into a Seed Maker produces 1–3 Fall Seeds, and it is the only fall forageable that can be placed directly into the Seed Maker. It is also used on the Sewing Machine spool to create a shirt, and it can be used as orange dye at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house.

• A Common Mushroom may be requested in Fall on the Help Wanted board outside Stone’s General Store for a reward and 150 friendship points.
• Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, and Woodskip may request 2–3 Common Mushrooms in Fish Pond quests.
• When tapped from a Mushroom Tree or gathered from a Mushroom Log, it can become a steady source of mushrooms without needing seasonal foraging.
• Because it can be turned into Fall Seeds, extra Common Mushrooms can be useful when preparing for future Fall planting rather than selling immediately.
