Mushroom Tree Seed

Mushroom Tree Seed is a seed that grows into a Mushroom Tree. It is sold by Mister Qi in Qi's Walnut Room for Qi Gems, and it can also be obtained from the natural spread of seeds near a Mushroom Tree. It cannot be obtained by shaking Mushroom Trees.

Mushroom Trees grow through several stages before becoming mature, and a mature tree can be tapped for mushrooms. The first mushroom produced depends on when the tapper is placed: placing it in Spring or Summer yields a Common Mushroom first, while placing it in Fall yields a Red Mushroom first. The waiting time also depends on the season: it is faster in some seasons, and in Winter the tapper does not produce at all, though a mushroom will be ready on Spring 1 of the following year. After harvesting a Purple Mushroom, the next mushroom is always ready after 1 night.

The mushroom sequence is based on the type, date, and season of the previous harvest. In general, the Common Mushroom is the default result. A Purple Mushroom can only appear after a harvest on the 10th or 20th of a season. A Red Mushroom can be obtained after a Purple Mushroom, or repeatedly in Fall under the right conditions. If a Red Mushroom is harvested on a day other than the 10th or 20th, the next mushroom will usually be another Red Mushroom if harvested in Fall, but a Common Mushroom in Spring or Summer. This makes Fall the best season for farming Red Mushrooms, especially if the tapper is removed and replaced to reset the production cycle.

Mushroom Tree Seed also has a few crafting and dye uses. It can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool to create an item, and it can be used as a red dye ingredient in the Sewing Machine or in dye pots at Emily and Haley's house, 2 Willow Lane.

A Mushroom Cap hat can also rarely drop when a Mushroom Tree is chopped down, with a 1% chance.
