Coffee Bean

Coffee Bean is a crop item that can be planted in both Spring and Summer, and it behaves the same in either season. Once planted, it grows through five stages before producing beans, then regrows after each harvest. The full growth time is 10 days, with 2 days to regrow after harvesting.

A Coffee Bean planted on Spring 28 continues growing on Summer 1 as if the season had not changed, and fertilizer beneath it remains in place across the season transition. This makes it one of the few crops that can bridge Spring and Summer without losing progress.

Coffee Beans are especially valuable because they can be processed into Coffee. To do so, 5 Coffee Beans from the same stack must be placed in a Keg. Different quality levels cannot be combined in the same Keg, since the input must be a single stack of identical quality. The resulting Coffee sells for the same price regardless of the quality of the beans used, which makes processing particularly worthwhile for lower-quality beans. For Gold-star Coffee Beans and below, it is always more profitable to brew them into Coffee before shipping. Using Iridium-star beans to make Coffee is not profitable, because the value of 5 Iridium beans matches the value of 1 Coffee.

Coffee Beans also have a few other uses:

• They are used in tailoring to create the dyeable Flannel Shirt in the Sewing Machine.
• They can be used as orange dye in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house.
• Five Coffee Beans may be requested in a Fish Pond quest for Blobfish to raise the pond’s capacity from 3 to 5.

Because Coffee itself is worth the same whether it is made from low- or high-quality beans, Coffee Beans are often best kept for processing rather than shipping directly, except in the case of Iridium quality. Coffee is also more efficient to ship than Triple Shot Espresso, since selling 3 Coffees yields the same value as 1 Triple Shot Espresso.
