Carp

Carp is a fish that can be caught in the Mountain Lake or Wilderness Farm during Spring, Summer, or Fall. It can also be caught in the Secret Woods, the Sewers, or the Mutant Bug Lair during any season. A pet cat with max friendship may gift one, and it can also appear randomly in Garbage Cans during Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Among its many fishing spots, Carp is most common in the Secret Woods, where it makes up a large share of catches when it is not raining. It is one of the easiest fish to catch, since it rarely moves past the third bar on the fishing meter, which makes perfect catches much more manageable than with most other fish.

Carp has several practical uses beyond selling or cooking:

• It can be placed in a Fish Pond, where it reproduces every day.
• A Carp Fish Pond starts with a capacity of 3 and can be expanded to 10 by completing two quests. The first expansion from 3 to 5 requires 2 Green Algae, and the second expansion from 5 to 10 requires 2 Cave Carrots.
• The only possible Fish Pond product is yellow Carp Roe.
• Carp can be used in the Sewing Machine to create the Fishing Vest.
• It can be used in dyeing as a yellow dye item.

In Fish Ponds, Carp are especially straightforward to manage because they have only one production output. Their daily reproduction and high availability make them useful for players who want a low-maintenance pond with predictable results. The pond also provides Fishing XP when quests are completed and when items are produced, with Carp Roe being the sole produced item.

Carp may also appear in several Help Wanted requests. During Spring, Summer, or Fall, one Carp can be requested for item delivery, and Demetrius or Willy may ask for 1 to 5 Carp for a fishing request. In Fish Pond progression, two Carp may be required as part of requests made by Dorado, Lingcod, or Pike when increasing pond capacity.

Because Carp is so common and easy to catch, it is often a convenient target for early-game fishing skill, quest completion, and basic crafting or tailoring needs. Its abundance in the Secret Woods and its simple Fish Pond behavior make it one of the most accessible fish to stockpile in the game.
