Pike

The Pike is a fish that can be caught in the river in Pelican Town or Cindersap Forest, as well as the pond in Cindersap Forest, during Summer and Winter. It can also be caught in the Riverland Farm river and the large pond on Forest Farm, and it may appear in Garbage Cans during Summer and Winter. With Magic Bait, Pike can be caught regardless of season. A cat with maximum friendship can also gift one.

Pike are most commonly found in freshwater areas: the town river, the river and pond in the forest, and the Riverland Farm waterways. Because they are available in both Summer and Winter, they are a useful fish for seasonal quests and fish pond setups, especially when the player wants a reliable source of a mid-value river fish without waiting for a narrow weather window.

Pike can be used in several ways:

• In the Sewing Machine, one Pike can be placed in the spool to create the Fishing Vest.
• Pike can be used as a yellow dye in the dye pots at Emily’s and Haley’s house.
• A Pike may be requested for the Help Wanted board outside Stone’s General Store during Summer or Winter.
• Demetrius or Willy may request 1–4 Pike on the Help Wanted board during Summer or Winter.

A Pike can also be placed in a Fish Pond. It reproduces every 3 days, starting with a capacity of 3 fish and increasing up to 10 after three quests are completed. The pond’s main output is yellow Pike Roe, and Bug Meat can also become available once the population reaches 9.

The Fish Pond quests for Pike are:

• Increase capacity from 3 to 5 by delivering 2 Bream, 2 Carp, or 2 Chub.
• Increase capacity from 5 to 7 by delivering 2 Bullhead or 2 Largemouth Bass.
• Increase capacity from 7 to 10 by delivering 2 Ghostfish, 2 Sandfish, or 2 Woodskip.

Pike ponds have a high chance of producing roe once populated. At lower populations, roe is produced almost every day, while at populations 9–10 there is a small chance for Bug Meat instead. The pond also grants Fishing experience when items are produced, making Pike a solid choice for players who want a simple, steady fish pond product with an easy-to-recognize output.
