Bullhead

Bullhead is a fish that can be caught in the mountain lake and on the Wilderness Farm during all seasons. It can also be obtained from a pet cat with maximum friendship, and it may appear in Krobus’ shop on Wednesdays or at the Traveling Cart.

In the game’s ecosystem, Bullhead is a fairly straightforward freshwater fish with a few useful secondary roles. It can be placed in a Fish Pond, where it reproduces every 2 days. A Bullhead pond starts with a capacity of 3 fish and can be expanded to 10 through three quests. The only possible pond product is dark brown Bullhead Roe, making the pond’s output simple but reliable.

Bullhead pond quests ask for a variety of common materials as the population limit increases:

• From 3 to 5 capacity: 10 Bug Meat, 2–3 Clay, 2–3 Green Algae, or 5 Slimes
• From 5 to 7 capacity: 2–3 Common Mushrooms, 1–2 Earth Crystals, or 1 Limestone
• From 7 to 10 capacity: 1 Mudstone, 1 Snail, or 5 Wild Bait

Each quest grants 30 Fishing XP. In some Fish Pond quests, two Bullhead may be requested by Dorado, Lingcod, or Pike when increasing the pond’s capacity from 5 to 7.

Bullhead also has a few crafting and dyeing uses. It can be placed in the spool of the Sewing Machine to create the Fishing Vest. It can also be used in dyeing as an orange dye at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house.

Because Bullhead is available all year in the mountain lake, it is one of the more dependable fish to target if you want a Fish Pond starter with a simple production cycle. Its pond output is limited compared to more specialized fish, but the combination of regular reproduction and Roe production makes it useful for players who want a low-maintenance source of fish products.
