Pelican Town

Pelican Town is the central town of Stardew Valley, home to the Valley’s main shops, public buildings, and many of its residents. It is the player’s primary hub for errands, socializing, fishing, and accessing several community features, and it contains the river, town square, and numerous hidden spots and interactable areas spread throughout its streets.

The town includes several key locations: Stone’s General Store, the Clinic, the Community Center, the Museum, the Blacksmith, JojaMart, the Stardrop Saloon, and the Bookseller shop. Residential buildings in town include 1 River Road, the Trailer, the Mayor’s Manor, 1 Willow Lane, and 2 Willow Lane. Pelican Town also has a special orders board, which lets the player take on quests from various townspeople.

Pelican Town is one of the main forage and artifact areas in the game. Forageable items can spawn on the ground here, with spawn rates averaging 1.2 per night in spring and summer, 0.9 per night in fall, and 0.7 per night in winter. Artifact Spots also appear in town, averaging 0.2 per night, rising to 0.8 per night in winter. In winter, the set of possible ground forage changes, and some artifact spot drops are seasonal as well. Because the map has many valid spawn tiles, checking the town regularly is worthwhile if the player wants seasonal forage or excavation finds.

Fishing is also rewarding in Pelican Town. River fish can be caught in the river that runs through town, and in fall the Legendary Fish Angler can be caught at the north end of the river; Ms. Angler can also be caught there. The fountain to the left of the Community Center has a special fishing result: there is a 10% chance of catching a present box containing a Decorative Trash Can, while the remaining results are a single piece of wood or stone, each with equal probability.

Several town secrets are tied to specific hidden spots. A Super Cucumber placed in the hidden brown box in the fenced area north of the Blacksmith rewards the player with the secret ??HMTGF?? statue. A Prize Ticket can be found in a hidden gift box northeast of the Bookseller, inside a small fenced area blocked by a large stump. The Alleyway Buffet can be obtained from a hidden golden garbage can in the easternmost part of town, by entering a concealed opening in the eastern fence just north of the Minecart track outside the Blacksmith; this route is blocked by a large log and boulder.

A few notable interactions and details stand out in Pelican Town:

• Trash Bear appears in the southern part of Cindersap Forest on the first non-rainy day in Year 3. After the player brings the four requested items, a cutscene cleans up trash in Cindersap Forest and the Trailer’s front yard, and Dusty’s dog pen is upgraded.
• The player cannot refill their watering can from the fountain.
• The in-game description of the town includes a typo: an extra “be” appears in the text.
• Pelican Town is located in the Ferngill Republic, which is at war with the Gotoro Empire across the Gem Sea.
• Dr. Harvey’s shortwave radio call places Pelican Town at approximately 52°N, 43.5°E if Stardew Valley is interpreted as being on Earth.
