Pierre's General Store

Region
Pelican Town

Overview

Pierre's General Store is the central shop in Pelican Town, run by Pierre. It sells most of the player’s early farming supplies, including seasonal seeds, fertilizers, saplings, wallpaper and flooring, and a few other everyday goods. The store also serves as one of the few places where backpack upgrades can be purchased, with the Large Pack available from the start of the game and the Deluxe Pack unlocked after buying the Large Pack.

By default, the store is closed on Wednesday. It stays open every day once all Community Center bundles are completed or the player obtains the Key To The Town. Pierre also keeps a separate living area north of the shop, with Abigail’s room and Pierre and Caroline’s bedroom, a kitchen, Caroline’s sun room, an exercise area used on Tuesdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and a Yoba shrine used for Sunday ceremonies.

Pierre’s stock changes in several ways over the course of a save. After reaching 8 hearts with a marriage candidate, bouquets become available for purchase. If the player sells items to Pierre, some of them can later appear as player-derived stock; edible items sold this way may be offered in limited quantities, and villagers may comment on having seen or bought them. Pierre is also known to take credit for finding or cooking items the player sold to him.

The most significant shop expansion comes from Pierre’s Missing Stocklist, which can be bought from Qi’s Walnut Room. When the player returns it to Pierre, he begins selling seeds from all seasons year-round. Out-of-season seeds cost 50% more than their in-season price, but Pierre’s year-round stock itself is not affected. The stocklist must be given to Pierre directly; attempting to hand it to someone else produces a puzzled response. Newly unlocked items appear immediately after the stocklist is returned.

The stocklist does not unlock everything at once. Seeds that are only sold starting in year 2 are still unavailable in year 1, even with the stocklist, and Strawberry Seeds remain exclusive to the Egg Festival and Desert Festival. Some year-2 seeds become available only from year 2 onward, while the stocklist does allow year-2 seasonal seeds to be purchased as soon as Spring 1 of year 2 arrives.

Pierre’s seasonal stock includes, among other items:

His year-round stock also includes Grass Starter, a recipe for Grass Starter, Sugar, Wheat Flour, Rice, Oil, Vinegar, several fertilizers and retaining soils, Speed-Gro variants, random wallpaper and flooring, tree saplings, the Catalogue, a Dehydrator recipe, and Bouquets once unlocked. A known quirk is that after receiving the Missing Stocklist, multi-season seeds may appear twice in the shop list.
