Gold Bar

Gold Bar is a crafted metal bar used in a wide range of mid- to late-game progression, crafting, tailoring, and quests. It is one of the refined materials produced from ore in the Furnace and becomes especially important once higher-tier tool upgrades and advanced crafting recipes become available.

Gold Bars are required for the third upgrade of every tool: the Hoe, Pickaxe, Axe, Watering Can, Trash Can, and Pan. They are also used in many crafting recipes, including Quality Sprinkler, Iridium Sprinkler, Oil Maker, Ring of Yoba, Worm Bin, Crystalarium, Seed Maker, Treasure Hunter, Barbed Hook, Gold Brazier, Thorns Ring, Solar Panel, Geode Crusher, Mini-Obelisk, and Mini-Forge. Several of these recipes are unlocked through skill levels, while others come from special orders or other progression milestones.

Gold Bar also has a few utility uses outside crafting:

• In tailoring, placing a Gold Bar in the spool of the Sewing Machine with Cloth produces a gold-colored hat.
• When used with a dyeable clothing item in the Sewing Machine, it acts as a gold dye ingredient.
• It can be placed in the yellow dye pot at Emily and Haley's house, 2 Willow Lane, for dyeing.

Gold Bar can also appear in quest content. It may be requested on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre's General Store, rewarding gold and Friendship points, but it will not be requested until the Furnace blueprints have been obtained. In addition, some Fish Pond quests can ask for three Gold Bars.

Because Gold Bars are used in so many recipes, they are worth stockpiling once the player reaches the point where gold ore and coal can be regularly processed. Their demand tends to spike when upgrading tools, setting up automated farming, or working toward advanced machines and specialty items.
