Barbed Hook

Barbed Hook is a piece of tackle used with a fishing rod. When equipped, it makes the fishing bar move on its own and can help keep fish inside the catch zone, but its usefulness depends on the fish being caught.

The bar can still be moved manually while a Barbed Hook is in use, although this is harder to do, especially against slower fish. The more a fish darts up and down, the easier it is to guide the bar manually and the less effective the Barbed Hook becomes. In practice, it is most helpful when fishing for more erratic fish that do not linger in one part of the meter for long.

• Crafting and selling a Barbed Hook is more profitable than selling the materials used to make it — 1 Copper Bar, 1 Iron Bar, and 1 Gold Bar — if you do not have the Blacksmith Profession.
• With the Blacksmith Profession, selling the bars individually is more profitable than crafting and selling a Barbed Hook.
