Sea Cucumber

The Sea Cucumber is a fish that can be caught in the ocean at The Beach or on the Beach Farm during Fall and Winter. It can also be found in Garbage Cans during those seasons, sold by the Traveling Cart, and caught during the deep-sea submarine ride at the Night Market on Winter 15–17. Using Magic Bait allows it to be caught regardless of time of day or season, and a Curiosity Lure slightly lowers the Night Market submarine catch chance.

Sea Cucumber is not used in any bundles, but it has several other uses. It can be placed in a Fish Pond, where it reproduces every 2 days and can eventually support up to 10 fish after completing the pond’s upgrade quests. The only pond output is yellow Sea Cucumber Roe.

• Fish Pond upgrade requests:
  • Increase capacity from 3 to 5 by turning in 3 Driftwood, 1 Frozen Geode, or 1–2 Seaweed.
  • Increase capacity from 5 to 7 by turning in 2 Clam or 2 Coral.
  • Increase capacity from 7 to 10 by turning in 2 Aquamarine, 1 Mussel, or 2 Sea Urchin.
  • Each quest grants 30 Fishing XP.

Sea Cucumber is also useful for tailoring and dyeing. It can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool to make the dyeable Tube Top, and it works as a yellow dye ingredient at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.

For profit and convenience, Sea Cucumbers are most commonly gathered from ocean fishing in Fall and Winter, but the Night Market submarine is another reliable seasonal source. Because Magic Bait ignores time and season restrictions, it is especially useful for catching one outside normal conditions or for completing requests quickly.

• In a Fish Pond, Sea Cucumbers produce yellow Roe only, so the pond is simple to manage if you want a steady source of that item.
• One Sea Cucumber may be requested on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s General Store during Fall or Winter, with a reward of gold and 150 Friendship points.
