Overview

Scorpion Carp is a fish that can be caught in the Desert. It is one of the desert-exclusive catches and is also useful for several side systems, including fish ponds, tailoring, dyeing, and quests.

In a Fish Pond, Scorpion Carp reproduce every 4 days. The pond starts with a capacity of 3 fish and can be expanded to 10 by completing two quests. Its main product is dark brown Scorpion Carp Roe, and once the pond reaches population 10, Cactus Seeds can also be produced.

  • First pond quest: expand the pond from 3 to 5 fish by bringing 3 Cactus Fruits or 3 Coconuts. This grants 40 Fishing XP.
  • Second pond quest: expand the pond from 5 to 10 fish by bringing 1 Golden Relic. This also grants 40 Fishing XP.

The pond’s output changes with population. At lower populations, roe is the most common result, while higher populations increase the chance of multiple roe and make Cactus Seeds possible at population 10. If the pond is empty of item production for a day, it produces nothing instead.

Scorpion Carp can also be used in the Sewing Machine spool to create a clothing item, and it can be used in dye pots as an orange dye. These uses make it a fairly flexible fish even outside of selling or cooking.

It can appear on the Help Wanted board after The Desert is unlocked, where it may be requested as an item delivery task for a reward and 150 Friendship points. Willy also requests one Scorpion Carp during the Desert Festival fishing challenge on Spring 16.

A notable fishing detail is that Scorpion Carp has a theoretical maximum size of 33 inches, but in actual gameplay it cannot be caught above 30 inches because of the layout of the Desert pond. Catching a 30-inch Scorpion Carp requires at least Fishing level 18.
