Official description

It's a golden slab with hieroglyphs and pictures emblazoned onto the front.

Overview

The Golden Relic is an Artifact that can be found by digging up an Artifact Spot in the Desert. It can also appear inside Artifact Troves, making it a possible reward from sources that yield mixed artifact drops. Like other artifacts, donating a Golden Relic contributes to the Museum’s total donation count.

Beyond the Museum, the Golden Relic has a few practical uses. It can be placed in the spool of the Sewing Machine to create the Relic Shirt, and it can also be used as a yellow dye at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane. These uses make it valuable even after the first copy has been donated.

A Golden Relic is also requested in a Fish Pond quest for Sandfish and Scorpion Carp. Completing that quest with one Golden Relic increases the pond’s capacity from 5 to 10, so players who intend to keep either fish for breeding or production should hold onto one copy for that purpose.

  • Source: Desert Artifact Spots are the direct excavation method, and Artifact Troves provide an additional random source.
  • Museum donation counts use the item normally, so players should donate one if they have not already completed the collection entry.
  • If you want the Relic Shirt or yellow dye access, keep at least one spare copy rather than donating every Golden Relic you find.
  • For Fish Ponds, the single relic requirement is a one-time upgrade cost for Sandfish and Scorpion Carp ponds.

The item’s description also contains a misspelling of “hieroglyphs,” which appears in-game.
