Fossilized Ribs

Fossilized Ribs is an item found on Ginger Island. It can be obtained by digging up Artifact Spots in the southern part of the island or by breaking Bone Nodes in the Dig Site. As a bone item, it also fits into several collection and crafting systems tied to the island’s archaeology and bone-processing content.

One of its main uses is in the Island Field Office donation collection. Fossilized Ribs is donated as part of the Large Animal specimen, and completing that specimen awards 6 Golden Walnuts and a Banana Sapling. Because of that, it is worth saving at least one copy until the field office donation set is finished.

Fossilized Ribs can also be processed in the Bone Mill, where it can be turned into fertilizer and speed buffs: Quality Fertilizer, Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro, or Tree Fertilizer. This makes it more flexible than a simple museum donation item, especially if you are actively farming on Ginger Island and want to convert extra bone materials into useful agricultural supplies.

It is also used in tailoring. Placing Fossilized Ribs in the spool of a Sewing Machine creates the Skeleton Shirt. In dyeing, it acts as a yellow dye ingredient at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane. These uses make it relevant for players collecting clothing options or managing dye materials.

For questing, Fossilized Ribs counts as a bone item for the Special Orders quest “Fragments of the past.” In that request, Gunther asks for 100 bone items of any combination, gathered while the quest is active, with 7 days to complete it. Since Fossilized Ribs is one of the eligible bone items, it can contribute toward that total alongside other bone materials.
