Golden Tag

Golden Tag is a special item obtained during the Trout Derby festival by catching Rainbow Trout. It serves as the festival’s prize currency and can be exchanged for rewards at the derby booth.

Each Rainbow Trout catch made anywhere during the festival, except from a Fish Pond, has a chance to award a Golden Tag. The base chance is 33% per Rainbow Trout caught, and the chance scales with the number of Rainbow Trout caught at once: 66% if 2 are caught together and 99% if 3 are caught together. Even when multiple Rainbow Trout are caught at once, only one Golden Tag can be obtained from that catch. If the player also receives a Fishing Treasure Chest, the Golden Tag is obtained with the treasure chest; otherwise, it is caught with the fish itself.

Golden Tags are not consumed at the end of the day. They carry over from day to day, so any extra Tags can be saved and spent later during the festival. This makes them function more like a temporary event currency than a one-time reward.

Practical notes:

• Catching Rainbow Trout as efficiently as possible during the Trout Derby is the key to earning more Golden Tags.
• Since the chance increases with the number of Rainbow Trout caught in a single catch, multi-fish catches are especially valuable.
• Fish Pond catches do not produce Golden Tags, even if they contain Rainbow Trout.
• Because Golden Tags persist between days, players do not need to spend them immediately and can wait until they know which prizes they want.

The Golden Tag exists only as part of the Trout Derby’s reward loop, where it directly ties fishing performance to prize access.
