Ginger

Ginger is a root that grows wild on Ginger Island. It is harvested with a hoe, rather than picked up directly, and it can also be obtained as a drop from Tiger Slimes and Stick Bugs.

Ginger has a few uses once collected. It can be used in dyeing as a yellow dye at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane. It is also used in the Sewing Machine spool to create clothing, though the source text for the specific garment is incomplete.

It can also appear in quest and fish pond requests:

• Three Ginger may be requested by a Lionfish in a Fish Pond quest, increasing the pond’s capacity from 3 to 5.
• Caroline may request 100 Ginger for the “Island Ingredients” Special Order. The reward is gold equal to 50% of the base crop price and the Solar Panel recipe.

Ginger is notable for being one of the natural foods associated with Ginger Island, and it has a hidden restorative effect as well. Eating Ginger cures the Nauseated debuff, and Ginger Ale does the same. This is not stated directly in the item description, but it is reflected by the game’s behavior.
