Vincent

Vincent is a villager who lives in the southern part of Pelican Town. He is a young boy who is usually seen with his best friend, Jas, and he looks up to his older brother Sam, wanting to be like him when he grows up. He lives with his mother Jodi and brother Sam; his father Kent is away at war during Year 1 and returns to the family in Year 2.

Vincent’s routine changes with the day and season. On most days he spends time at home and in the town square, but on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday he goes to the Museum in the afternoon to be tutored by Penny. In Summer, he often goes to the beach instead of following his usual town schedule. On rainy days he stays inside his home all day, except on Spring 11, when he leaves for his yearly clinic visit with Harvey. After the Beach Resort on Ginger Island is unlocked, he may occasionally spend the day there, but only when accompanied by an adult; he never goes there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, festival days, or on his clinic day. Vincent also appears on special schedules for the Desert Festival, Winter 16, and Green Rain.

Vincent’s friendship dialogue and relationship details reinforce his childlike personality. He is especially close to Jas, the only other town resident near his age, and Penny is the person who teaches both children at the Museum because there is no school in Pelican Town. It is also implied that Vincent is very fond of Penny, since he talks about marrying her when he grows up.

Like other villagers, Vincent has specific gift preferences. He loves several universal gifts, including Cranberry Candy, Frog Egg, Ginger Ale, Grape, Pink Cake, and Snail. He likes all milk, Daffodil, Coconut, and most universal liked items, with the listed exceptions. He dislikes a wide range of common items, including most eggs, most fruit, most vegetables, Clay, Chanterelle, Common Mushroom, Dandelion, Ginger, Hazelnut, Holly, Leek, Magma Cap, Morel, Purple Mushroom, Quartz, Snow Yam, Winter Root, and Wild Horseradish. He hates any alcoholic beverage, Piña Colada, Triple Shot Espresso, and most artisan goods except Honey, Jelly, and Oil.

In the movie theater, Vincent loves Journey Of The Prairie King: The Motion Picture, The Brave Little Sapling, and Wumbus. For concessions, he loves Jawbreaker and Stardrop Sorbet, likes everything else, and dislikes Black Licorice, Hummus Snack Pack, Jasmine Tea, Joja Cola, JojaCorn, Kale Smoothie, Panzanella Salad, and Truffle Popcorn.

A few trivia points stand out: despite hating Clay, he may still gift it to the player at the Feast of the Winter Star, and during the spring onion mastery cutscene he says “sp...spwing onion,” which is the only time he speaks that way. He also continues to say he wants to marry Penny even if the player is married to her.
