Leek

Leek is a spring forage item that can be found in the wild or grown from Spring Seeds. It also has a few special sources: the Statue Of Endless Fortune produces one Leek each year on George’s birthday, Fall 24, and it can appear randomly in Garbage Cans during Spring.

Leeks are most common in the Mountain and Backwoods, where they make up 58% of spring forage items. They also appear in other spring foraging locations, including the Bus Stop and Railroad at 20% each, the Forest at 25%, and the Beach farms.

Leek is used in the Sewing Machine with Cloth in the feed to create a clothing item, and it acts as a white dye ingredient when placed with a dyeable clothing item. It also has several quest uses:

• Evelyn mails a request for a Leek on Spring 15 of year 2 in the “Granny’s Gift” quest, which rewards an item and 1 Friendship heart.
• A Leek may be requested randomly during Spring on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s General Store, rewarding an item and 150 Friendship points.
• Evelyn requests 12 Leeks in the “Gifts for George” Special Order, which rewards an item and a Coffee Maker.

Because it is a spring forage item, Leek is useful both for early-game gathering and for completing requests that appear during the season. Its high Mountain and Backwoods spawn rate makes those areas the most reliable places to look if one is trying to stock up quickly.
