Bus Stop

The Bus Stop is an exterior map near the center of Stardew Valley and the first area the player enters at the start of the game. Its main road connects the Farm to the west with Pelican Town to the east, and continuing west from the road also leads to the lower section of the Backwoods. The road cannot be followed further east.

The broken Minecart in the northwest corner of the map becomes useful once repaired, as it can then provide access to the Mines, Pelican Town near the Blacksmith, and the Quarry. The bus itself is also initially out of service. After it is repaired, it becomes the route to the Calico Desert.

Pam becomes the Bus Driver once the bus is repaired. She arrives at the Bus Stop at 10:00 AM and leaves at 5:00 PM, and tickets can be purchased during that time for the trip to the Desert and back. If the player waits for Pam outside her trailer at 8:30 AM and blocks her path, she will move much faster than usual and can reach the Bus Stop by 9:30 AM, allowing an earlier departure. If Pam is unavailable, a sign appears in front of the bus explaining the situation and letting the player drive it themselves, though the trip still costs money. This can happen on Spring 25, when she has an appointment at Harvey's Clinic, or when she is vacationing at the Ginger Island Resort.

If the player leaves a horse at the Bus Stop, a message appears after returning from the Desert saying either that the horse is waiting patiently or wondering where the player has been. The game also includes trivia noting that if the player warps to the Desert and then takes the bus back, the player will drive the bus even if Pam is still there.

The Bus Stop also produces forage and artifact spots. Forageable items can appear on the ground in every season, with different item sets depending on the time of year. The map’s spawn locations are marked by tiles that have different chances of producing items; tiles behind the original trees have a much lower chance of spawning forage. Artifact Spots also appear here, with a much higher average spawn rate in winter than in other seasons. Digging these spots can produce standard artifact rewards, books, seasonal items, and other rare finds, including a hidden chance for an unseen item if the player has the Magnifying Glass.

The bus ticket graphic shown in the game files was never implemented in the released version. It was intended to appear in the player’s wallet, and in version 1.3 its image was replaced in the game files with the Magnifying Glass image.
