Community Center

Region
Pelican Town

Overview

The Community Center is a major location in Pelican Town and one of the centerpieces of Stardew Valley’s early and midgame progression. It begins as a neglected public building, but the player can restore it by completing the Community Center Bundles with items gathered from farming, fishing, foraging, mining, and other activities. As each room is completed, Junimos help repair the building and reward the player with progression benefits tied to that room.

Completing the last bundle restores the entire building. The next sunny day after finishing the final bundle, entering Pelican Town at any time can trigger the reopening ceremony cutscene, unless it is raining or a festival is happening in town. Finishing the ceremony unlocks the Local Legend Achievement and awards the Stardew Hero Trophy. After the restoration, the Community Center is no longer abandoned, the front clock works again, and some villagers spend time there enjoying the building.

The restoration sequence also affects several parts of town life. JojaMart goes out of business afterward, Pierre’s General Store is open every day of the week instead of being closed on Wednesdays, and Clint’s Blacksmith shop is closed on Fridays because he spends the day at the Community Center, though it can still be entered. The ceremony itself shows the town celebrating the rebuilt center, and Stone confronts Morris over the store’s closure. Depending on the dialogue choice, the scene either settles the conflict or turns into a fight.

A few practical points are worth keeping in mind when working through the bundles:

  • Completing multiple rooms on the same day only plays the overnight cutscene for the last room finished.
  • If the player finishes all bundles in a room the day before getting married, the Junimos’ overnight cutscene is skipped.
  • The completion ceremony can trigger after dark as well as during the day.
  • In multiplayer, certain Joja-related edge cases can cause the completion celebration or restoration state to appear in unusual places.
  • If the player completes all bundles in a room that unlocks a development before buying a Joja membership, that development remains completed if the Joja route is later chosen.

The Community Center also connects to other progression events. Reaching certain bundle milestones can trigger cutscenes involving Willy’s boat, and after restoring the building, the Fish Tank becomes a fully usable tank with its own fish and decoration slots. Overall, the Community Center route is the town-focused alternative to JojaMart’s development form and offers substantial rewards for players who prefer restoring Pelican Town through bundles rather than purchases.
