Fiddlehead Fern

Fiddlehead Fern is a vegetable that can be foraged in several places: the Secret Woods during Summer, the prehistoric floors of the Skull Cavern, levels 41–69 of the Mines while the Shrine of Challenge is active, and the Ginger Island jungle in all seasons. It can also occasionally appear at the Traveling Cart, be obtained by chopping Green Rain Trees of type 3 during Green Rain, be harvested from fully grown Green Rain Trees of type 3 with a Tapper, and be purchased from Kent’s shop at the Desert Festival for Calico Eggs.

It is the only foraged item categorized as a vegetable. Because of that, its sell price benefits from the Tiller profession bonus, and it can be processed into Pickles or Juice with a Preserves Jar or Keg. At the same time, it still counts as a foraged item for other game systems: it grants 7 Foraging XP when collected, can benefit from the Gatherer double-harvest bonus, and can be upgraded to iridium quality by Botanist.

Fiddlehead Fern also has a few practical uses outside selling:

• It is used in a Community Center bundle.
• Five Fiddlehead Ferns are one of the options for another bundle.
• It can be used in the Sewing Machine with Cloth to create clothing.
• It is a green dye item in the Sewing Machine when combined with a dyeable clothing item.
• It can also be placed in the green dye pot at Emily’s and Haley’s house.

It is not used in any quests.
