Green Canes

Green Canes are a type of tree that can appear with or without moss. Some specimens may already be covered in moss, and shaking them can produce a Mossy Seed. When chopped with an axe, they can drop Moss, Wood, Sap, Mossy Seeds, and, if the player has the Lumberjack profession, Hardwood.

There are multiple forms of these trees. The common mossy varieties behave like standard trees through their growth stages, but some variants cannot grow Moss at all. One of these non-mossy forms is especially notable for its harvests: when cut down, it drops 5 Fiddlehead Ferns plus 1 more from the stump, along with up to 2 Mossy Seeds. In Winter, this form turns into a stump. When tapped, it produces 1 Fiddlehead Fern every 2 days except during Winter.

• Shaking can yield Mossy Seeds without cutting the tree down.
• Chopping mossy specimens is the main way to obtain Moss, while the non-mossy form is used for Fiddlehead Fern production.
• During Winter, the fern-producing form does not continue tapping production and becomes a stump.
• If the player has the Lumberjack profession, axe-chopping can also yield Hardwood from these trees.
