Overview

White Algae is an item used in several progression systems in Stardew Valley. It can be turned in for bundle completion, consumed by quest-giving NPCs, and used at the Sewing Machine for tailoring. While it is not a major crafting material, it is a useful fish pond and request item because several game systems specifically ask for it.

Five White Algae are one of the options for a Community Center bundle. It can also be placed in the spool of the Sewing Machine to create the dyeable Collared Shirt. Because the shirt is dyeable, White Algae is one of the items that can help produce a customizable clothing piece rather than a fixed-color cosmetic reward.

White Algae has a notable role in Fish Pond progression. When Ghostfish are kept in a Fish Pond, they may request five White Algae in a quest to raise the pond’s capacity from 5 to 7. This makes White Algae a relevant item to keep on hand if you are expanding a Ghostfish pond. In addition, the Raccoon at the Giant Stump may ask for five White Algae as part of its third request, and it can also appear in any request starting with the sixth.

  • Five White Algae can be submitted for a bundle option.
  • Five White Algae can be used at the Sewing Machine to make the Collared Shirt.
  • Ghostfish may request five White Algae to increase Fish Pond capacity from 5 to 7.
  • The Raccoon may request five White Algae starting with its third request, and in later requests as well.

Because White Algae is tied to multiple separate systems, it is worth storing extra copies if you plan to work on Community Center completion, tailoring, Fish Pond upgrades, or Raccoon requests at the same time.
