Walleye

Walleye is a fish that can be caught in Fall when it is raining. It appears in the river, mountain lake, and forest pond, and it can be caught at any time after midday as long as the weather is rainy. Because of that weather requirement, it is one of the fish players are most likely to miss if they are not fishing during fall rain.

Walleye is also useful outside of basic shipping and cooking uses. One gold or iridium quality Walleye is required for one bundle, and it may also be requested through the Help Wanted board in Fall or Winter for a cash reward and friendship points. In tailoring, a Walleye can be used in the spool of the Sewing Machine to create the Fishing Vest, and it can also be used as a yellow dye at the dye pots in Emily's and Haley's house.

Walleye can be placed in a Fish Pond, where they reproduce every 3 days. The pond starts with a capacity of 3 fish and can be expanded up to 10 through three quests. The only output from a Walleye pond is yellow Walleye Roe. Its pond quest requests are straightforward and the rewards are Fishing experience, making the fish pond a reliable source if the player wants roe rather than a large variety of outputs.

• Pond capacity increases follow this order: 3 to 5, then 5 to 7, then 7 to 10.
• The quest items requested can include Acorns, Bug Meat, Maple Seeds, Pine Cones, Gold Ore, Maple Syrup, Mixed Seeds, Crayfish, Honey, Jade, or Periwinkle.
• Each pond quest grants 35 Fishing XP.
• At full population, the pond usually produces roe, with only a small chance of producing nothing each day.

Since it is available in multiple freshwater locations, the choice of fishing spot can be based on whichever area is most convenient. The fish is also a practical target for players filling bundles, stocking a Fish Pond, or gathering materials for tailoring and dyeing.
