Overview

Jade is a mineral that can be found in Jade Nodes and Gem Nodes in the Mines on floor 40 and below, as well as in barrels and crates from floor 40 onward. It can also be dropped by Blue Slimes and Dwarvish Sentries, found in Fishing Treasure Chests, or received as a gift during the Feast of the Winter Star. After the player has reached the bottom of the Mines, it may occasionally appear in a Garbage Can.

Jade has several uses beyond being sold for its base value. The Desert Trader in the Calico Desert exchanges one Jade for one Staircase every Sunday, making it a reliable way to stock up on Staircases once Jade is available. It can also be used at the Forge to raise a melee weapon’s critical hit damage, giving it a combat-oriented upgrade path. In tailoring, Jade is used in the Sewing Machine to create clothing, and it can also serve as a green dye in dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house on 2 Willow Lane.

Jade can also appear in a few quest-related contexts. It may be requested randomly on the Help Wanted board outside Stone’s General Store once the player has reached floor 40 of the Mines, and it can be requested by several fish as part of Fish Pond quests. Emily also requests Jade for the Rock Rejuvenation Special Order on the board outside Mayor Lewis’ house.

Because of its broad utility, Jade is often worth saving rather than selling immediately. A few practical points stand out:

  • Keep at least one Jade for the Desert Trader if you want a Staircase each Sunday.
  • If you are using the Forge, Jade is one of the minerals that directly benefits melee weapon upgrades.
  • Extra copies are useful for tailoring and dyeing, so surplus Jade can still have value even after fulfilling trade needs.
  • Since Jade can come from combat, mining, treasure chests, and garbage cans, it is one of the minerals that may accumulate naturally over time.
