Spring Onion

Spring Onion is a forage item associated with Cindersap Forest in spring, and it has a unique permanent upgrade tied to it through Spring Onion Mastery. Once Spring Onion Mastery is obtained, the sell price of Spring Onions is permanently multiplied by 5. The mastery is unlocked after earning 8 hearts of friendship with both Jas and Vincent, then triggering a cutscene by entering Cindersap Forest on a sunny spring day between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm. During the cutscene, Vincent shows the player how to clean Spring Onions by removing insects, and the mastery then appears in the Special Items & Powers tab of the pause menu.

Spring Onion itself has very limited direct use. It is not used in any recipes, so it does not function as a cooking ingredient. Its only crafting-related use listed here is in tailoring: placing it in the Sewing Machine spool creates the Spring Shirt.

Processed Spring Onion products have a niche use in gifting. Spring Onion Juice is the cheapest juice available for gifting, and Spring Onion Pickles is the cheapest pickles available for gifting. These are practical if you want low-cost artisan goods for gift purposes rather than profit or cooking.

In short, Spring Onion is most notable for its mastery bonus and its tailoring use, while its raw item form has no recipe use. The item’s value becomes much more significant after unlocking Spring Onion Mastery, since the sale price boost applies permanently once acquired.
