Telephone

Can be used to check store hours and inventory.
Overview
The Telephone is a piece of furniture that lets the player place and receive phone calls instead of visiting certain NPCs in person. It is primarily a convenience item for checking shop hours, store stock, and other daily services, and it can be used even while standing inside the target merchant’s own shop.
Calling specific contacts gives different information:
Robin: check the Carpenter’s Shop hours, store inventory, house upgrade costs, and building upgrade costs.
Clint: check the Blacksmith hours and tool upgrade costs; ore prices cannot be checked by phone.
Pierre: check Pierre’s General Store hours and stock.
Marnie: check Marnie’s Ranch hours and livestock prices; the supply store cannot be accessed by telephone.
Gus: check the Stardrop Saloon hours and find out the dish of the day.
Marlon: access the Item Recovery Service without visiting the Adventurer’s Guild. His number becomes available only after completing the Monster Eradication Goal for Magma Sprites and Magma Sparkers.
The Telephone can also receive incoming calls.

The phone interface does not replace all shop interactions: it is limited to the information each contact offers, and some services are explicitly unavailable by telephone. If the player calls a merchant while that merchant is away on Ginger Island and checks stock, the store interface may show the merchant’s island portrait. Calling a merchant while standing inside their own store produces no reaction.
There are also a few special conditions worth noting:
- Merchant answering machine messages can change when the merchant is busy, during festivals, and on similar days.
- All televisions in the game share the same channels, but the Telephone serves a different purpose by connecting directly to NPC services.
- The phone can be used without needing to travel to the relevant location, making it especially useful for checking daily availability before leaving the farm.
