Flute Block

Plays a flute sound when you walk past.
Overview
The Flute Block is a crafted piece of Furniture that produces musical notes when a player walks near it. The crafting recipe is obtained from

A placed Flute Block plays a note when a player walks next to it, and continues to sound once per second if the player remains nearby. Right-clicking the block raises its pitch, cycling through 25 possible pitches before returning to the first one. The pitch range loops through the chromatic scale, starting at C and progressing upward until it returns to C again. By arranging several Flute Blocks, often together with Drum Blocks, players can create walking music or short melodies across a path.
Flute Blocks can also trigger a variety of special non-flute sounds under certain conditions. If a player is holding specific items above their head while walking near a Flute Block, the block will play a matching sound instead of its normal note. These special sounds include:
- a clam tone, triggered by clam-related interactions at the Mermaid Boat in the Night Market or by using the "Uh" emote in Multiplayer
- a telephone button push, played after the dial tone when calling vendors with the
Telephone
- a mini harp note, played when using the "Music" emote in Multiplayer
- a pig sound, played when a Pig or the Traveling Merchant’s pig oinks
- crystal sounds, played during several crystal-related events such as the
Singing Stone, the Ginger Island crystal puzzle, breaking crystals in the Mines, and using the Mines elevator
- a duck sound, played when a Duck quacks
- a toy piano sound, played when interacting with
Elliott’s piano in his cabin
- a Dust Sprite sound, along with a few related cases such as talking to
Marnie while wearing Trimmed Lucky Purple Shorts or using the "Laugh" emote in Multiplayer
Because of these alternate sounds, Flute Blocks can be used for more than just music sequencing; they can also act as a kind of ambient sound trigger in themed builds or novelty setups.
Flute Blocks are also relevant to progression on Ginger Island, where they are used to obtain 5 Golden Walnuts from the Mermaid. They have no use in tailoring or dyeing.
