Fire Quartz

Fire Quartz is a mineral that can be found in the Mines on floor 80 and below, in the Skull Cavern, and inside Magma Geodes or Omni Geodes. It can also be obtained by panning, found in Fishing Treasure Chests, occasionally dug out of Garbage Cans after reaching floor 80 of the Mines, or mailed by the Wizard after meeting him. During the Feast of the Winter Star, one Fire Quartz may sometimes be purchased from Stone’s booth.

Fire Quartz can be destroyed by bombs. Its primary processing use is smelting: placing it in a Furnace with 1 Coal produces 3 Refined Quartz after 1.5 in-game hours. To smelt it, equip the Fire Quartz and activate the Furnace while Coal is in inventory; one piece of Coal is always consumed per smelting operation.

It also has a few crafting and utility uses:

• Used in the Sewing Machine to make a shirt.
• Used as a red dye at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house.
• May be requested on the Help Wanted board outside Stone’s General Store for a reward of gold and friendship points, but only after reaching floor 80 of the Mines.
• Three Fire Quartz are required for a Lava Eel Fish Pond quest to raise the pond’s capacity from 1 to 3.
