Magma Geode

The Magma Geode is a mineral deposit that can contain minerals, artifacts, ores, or basic resources. It is found on floors 81 through 119 of the Mines, in Fishing Treasure Chests, and occasionally as a gift at the Feast of the Winter Star. It can also be obtained by breaking boxes and barrels in the Skull Cavern, by picking up drops from trains, and by mining Magma Geode Nodes, which appear in the small quarry on Hill-top Farm and Four Corners Farm. Lava Eels in a Fish Pond can also produce Magma Geodes once the pond contains at least 9 fish, with larger ponds producing more.

Magma Geodes can be opened by Clint at the Blacksmith or cracked with a Geode Crusher. Their contents are not affected by daily luck or luck buffs.

Possible contents include:

• Artifacts: Dwarf Gadget
• Foraged minerals: Fire Quartz
• Geode minerals: Baryte, Basalt, Bixite, Dolomite, Fire Opal, Helvite, Jasper, Lemon Stone, Neptunite, Obsidian, Star Shards, and Tigerseye, each with a 1/26 chance
• Resources: Stone, Clay, Coal, Copper Ore, Iron Ore, Gold Ore, and Iridium Ore

Resource drops follow fixed odds. Coal, Copper Ore, Iron Ore, and Gold Ore each have the same distribution: 30% for 1, 30% for 3, 30% for 5, 9% for 10, and 1% for 20. Stone has a 50% chance to use that same distribution and a 50% chance to give only 1. Iridium Ore has a 30% chance for 1, 30% for 2, 30% for 3, 9% for 6, and 1% for 11. Clay can only appear as a single item.

Magma Geodes also have a few practical uses outside of opening:

• They can be used in the Sewing Machine to craft the Red Hoodie.
• They can be used as a red dye in the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house.
• The Raccoon may request 3 Magma Geodes as part of its fifth request, and also in requests starting with the sixth.
