It's a wonder all these ancient little pieces lasted so long.

Overview

The Skeletal Hand is an Artifact that can be found in a few different ways throughout Stardew Valley. It may be uncovered by digging up an Artifact Spot in the Backwoods or at The Beach, obtained as a drop from a Haunted Skull, mined from Bone Nodes on the Ginger Island Dig Site, purchased from Vincent’s shop at the Desert Festival, or gifted by a pet dog with maximum friendship.

Like other artifacts, donating a Skeletal Hand to the Museum counts toward total museum donations. Donating it together with the Prehistoric Skull and Prehistoric Scapula also rewards the player with the Sloth Skeleton L statue. It is not used in any bundles or recipes, but it does have a few practical uses beyond donation.

  • In the Bone Mill, a Skeletal Hand can be processed into Quality Fertilizer, Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro, or Tree Fertilizer.
  • In tailoring, it can be used on the sewing machine spool with Cloth in the feed to create a clothing item, and it also serves as a white dye when paired with a dyeable clothing item.
  • It can contribute toward Gunther’s Special Order request, “Fragments of the past,” which asks for 100 of any combination of bone items collected while the quest is active. Completing that order rewards the player with the Bone Mill recipe.

Because it is an artifact, the Skeletal Hand is generally most valuable early on for museum progression and later as a flexible bone-type crafting ingredient. Its Bone Mill output makes it especially useful if you want fertilizer or speed-boosting items without spending more common resources.
