Bouncer

Overview
The Bouncer is the guard stationed at the entrance to the Casino in the back of the Oasis. He blocks access until the player completes The Mysterious Qi quest and obtains the Club Card. Once that quest is finished, the Bouncer disappears from the game, and the Casino can be entered normally.
Because the Bouncer is tied directly to progression, he functions more like a temporary gatekeeper than a permanent villager. In multiplayer, farmhands who have not completed the quest themselves may still see him, or may find him invisible, but they are still unable to enter the Casino until they unlock the Club Card on their own. If they try to pass, they are denied entry and warped back a few steps.
A few interactions with the Bouncer have special results:
- If the player tries to slip past using the sword swing glitch without having the Club Card, the attempt fails and the Bouncer drops a
Mega Bomb while angrily reacting.
- Repeatedly walking into him causes the usual shaking animation, but he will only respond with “Nice try” rather than allowing passage.
- Hitting him with a slingshot projectile triggers the crafting sound instead of the normal hit sound. This behavior is intentional in the game code.
The Bouncer is therefore one of the clearest examples of Stardew Valley using a character as a hard story and progression lock. He is only present for the portion of the game in which the Casino is still inaccessible, and he is removed entirely once his purpose has been fulfilled.
