Hazelnut

The Hazelnut is a foraged item found throughout Stardew Valley during Fall. It can be collected from the ground, grown from Fall Seeds, or obtained by shaking a Maple Tree between the 15th and 28th of Fall, when it has a chance to drop a hazelnut. It may also appear randomly in Garbage Cans during Fall, and five Hazelnuts can be purchased from Kent’s shop at the Desert Festival for Calico Eggs.

Hazelnuts are useful beyond selling or eating, since they are part of the game’s crafting and tailoring systems. They can be requested on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s General Store in Fall, and they are also used in the sewing machine to make Brown Overalls. In dyeing, Hazelnut acts as an orange dye ingredient at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.

• Shaking Maple Trees is the most specific way to target Hazelnuts, but only during the latter half of Fall.
• Fall Seeds can produce Hazelnuts if you want a renewable source.
• Keep at least one if you want to complete tailoring or dyeing recipes without having to forage for another one later.
• Because it can be a Help Wanted request, saving extra Hazelnuts can make a quick quest easier to fulfill.
