Wheat Seeds

Wheat Seeds are a type of seed that can be planted to grow Wheat. The crop matures quickly and is useful both as a cheap summer filler and as a way to keep soil tilled between seasons. Because Wheat persists across two seasons, it is especially practical for preparing a tile for the next crop cycle without losing its prepared state.

Wheat Seeds can be purchased from Pierre's General Store and JojaMart, and they are also sold by the Magic Shop Boat at the Night Market on Winter 16 and 17. They may also appear in the Traveling Cart. In addition to buying them, players can obtain Wheat Seeds by processing crops through the Seed Maker, or by planting Mixed Seeds, which have a chance to produce them. They can also be found in treasure rooms in the Skull Cavern, and may come from opening Mystery Boxes or Golden Mystery Boxes.

A useful property of Wheat is that it grows very quickly, making Wheat Seeds a low-cost option for maintaining farmland near the end of Summer. Planting them late in the season helps ensure a tilled tile stays prepared when the season changes, and if the tile is watered by a sprinkler it can also remain watered. This makes Wheat especially convenient for players who want to preserve field setup with minimal investment.
