Corn Seeds

Corn Seeds are a type of seed that can be planted to grow Corn. Like other seeds, they are an early part of the farming loop: buy them, plant them, water them, and harvest the resulting crop when mature.

Corn Seeds can be purchased from Pierre's General Store and JojaMart, with additional availability from the Magic Shop Boat at the Night Market on Winter 16 and 17. They can also appear occasionally at the Traveling Cart. Outside of shops, Corn Seeds may be produced by the Seed Maker, found as a possible result when planting Mixed Seeds, and obtained in bulk from treasure rooms in the Skull Cavern. Opening a Mystery Box or Golden Mystery Box can also award a number of Corn Seeds.

Because they are a seed item rather than the crop itself, Corn Seeds are mainly useful for starting or expanding Corn production. Corn is a useful crop to grow in large quantities, especially if you want to avoid repeatedly buying additional seed packets once you have access to the Seed Maker. The Seed Maker can also turn harvested crops back into seeds, making it possible to sustain or expand planting without depending entirely on shop stock.

A few practical points stand out:

• Corn Seeds are sold through multiple permanent and seasonal sources, so they are relatively easy to replenish once you know where to look.
• The Seed Maker can be especially valuable if you want to convert harvested Corn back into planting stock instead of buying more.
• Mixed Seeds may sometimes become Corn Seeds when planted, making them one of the possible outcomes for players who use random seed sources.
• Treasure rooms in the Skull Cavern and box rewards can provide a useful seed windfall, especially if you are trying to establish a larger field quickly.

Corn Seeds are also notable for the way they interact with processing and profit planning. A pair of Corn Seeds can be sold for the same total value as corn pickles, but producing them with a Seed Maker takes only 20 minutes instead of the 4000 minutes required in a Preserves Jar. This makes the Seed Maker an efficient tool when the goal is to turn crops into seed stock quickly rather than into artisan goods.
