Apple Sapling

The Apple Sapling is a Fruit Tree sapling that grows into an Apple Tree after 28 days. Once mature, it produces one Apple each day during Fall. As with all Fruit Trees, it will continue to produce fruit year-round if planted in the Greenhouse, making it a reliable long-term source of apples once established.

Apple Saplings can be bought from Stone's General Store and may also appear occasionally in the Traveling Cart. They can also be obtained in a few other ways: as a possible find in treasure rooms in the Skull Cavern, as the eighth prize from the Prize Machine in the Mayor's Manor with a 50% chance, and from opening either a Mystery Box or a Golden Mystery Box.

Because the sapling requires a full month to mature, it is best planted well before Fall if the goal is to harvest apples during that season. If planted in the open, it will only bear fruit in Fall, so timing matters more than with crops that can be replanted each season. In the Greenhouse, however, the tree becomes a permanent source of fruit and does not need to be replaced after the season ends.

• The sapling occupies a 3×3 area, like other Fruit Trees, so the surrounding tiles must remain clear while it grows.
• Since mature Fruit Trees produce fruit daily in season, an Apple Tree can be especially useful for cooking, bundles, gifting, and processing into artisan goods.
• If the player wants apples as early as possible, buying and planting the sapling in advance is the most dependable method, since the other acquisition methods are random or limited.
