Overview

Apricot is a fruit produced by the Apricot Tree in Spring. Once planted, the tree takes 28 days to reach maturity, growing through five 7-day stages before it begins to bear fruit. After maturing, it produces one Apricot each day during Spring. Fruit trees can also be planted in the Greenhouse, allowing them to continue growing and fruiting without seasonal limits once established.

An Apricot Tree must be planted in the center of a clear 3x3 area. Every tile in that square must be kept free of objects, flooring, and terrain features, including grass, and the 3x3 area cannot overlap the planting area of another fruit tree. The space only has to remain clear while the tree is growing; once the tree is fully grown, the surrounding tiles do not need to stay empty. If the tree is struck by lightning during a storm, it produces Coal for 4 days instead of fruit.

As with other fruit trees, apricots increase in quality for each full year after maturity, up to iridium quality after three years. This makes older trees more profitable, especially when kept growing in the Greenhouse.

Apricot also has a few practical uses outside of direct sale:

  • It can be used in the Sewing Machine to create the dyeable Relaxed Fit Pants.
  • It can be used as an orange dye in the dye pots at Emily’s and Haley’s house, 2 Willow Lane.
  • Emily requests an Apricot by mail on Spring 6 in Year 2 during the “Fresh Fruit” quest, which rewards the player with an item and 1 friendship heart.

For players who want a reliable early spring fruit source, planting an Apricot Tree is a long-term investment rather than a quick harvest. The long growth time means it pays off best when planted as early as possible, or when kept in the Greenhouse where it can continue producing fruit every Spring and improve in quality over time.
