Pumpkin

Pumpkin is a vegetable crop that grows from Pumpkin Seeds in 13 days. It is one of only five crops that can become a giant crop, and it has the second-highest per-unit base price among the normal crops, behind Starfruit. Because of its high value and utility, Pumpkin is a notable fall crop for both profit and item requirements.

A Pumpkin progresses through five growth stages before it can be harvested. Its growth takes 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, and then 3 days for the final stage, for a total of 13 days. Like other qualifying crops, it can merge into a Giant Crop if planted in a 3×3 square and left unharvested after maturity.

Pumpkin is used in several progression and crafting systems:

• It is required for a bundle.
• Five gold quality Pumpkins are one of the options for a community center bundle.
• It is used to craft a Jack-O-Lantern, which is learned from the Spirit's Eve Festival.

Pumpkin also has several tailoring and dyeing uses. It can be placed in the sewing machine with Cloth to create a dyeable clothing item, and it acts as an orange dye when used with a dyeable clothing item in the sewing machine. It can also be placed in the orange dye pot at Emily and Haley's house for dyeing.

In quests, Pumpkin is especially useful during fall:

• Caroline mails a Pumpkin request on Fall 19 in the Carving Pumpkins quest, which rewards 500g and 1 Friendship heart.
• Pumpkin may also be requested randomly on the help wanted board outside Stone's General Store during Fall, rewarding 960g and 150 Friendship points.

Because of its value and multiple uses, it is often worth saving a few Pumpkins of different quality levels rather than selling every harvest immediately. Gold quality Pumpkins are especially useful for bundle completion, while ordinary Pumpkins remain relevant for crafting, quests, and tailoring.
