A sticky, fragrant substance derived from oak sap.

Overview

Oak Resin is a tree sap produced by a Tapper when it is placed on an Oak Tree, taking 6 days to collect, or 3 days with a Heavy Tapper. It is also obtained by tapping Oak Trees grown by the player or naturally growing in Stardew Valley, such as those in Cindersap Forest. In addition, it can rarely drop from Haunted Skulls and can occasionally be obtained by processing Hardwood in a Wood Chipper.

Although Oak Resin is labeled an Artisan Good in-game, it does not benefit from the Artisan profession. Instead, it is affected by the Tapper profession, which increases its value by 25%. This makes it most useful for players who have invested in tree tapping and are looking to turn steady sap production into a reliable source of income and crafting materials.

Oak Resin has several practical uses:

  • It is used to craft a Keg at Farming level 8.
  • It can be requested by Woodskip in a Fish Pond quest to increase the pond’s capacity from 5 to 7.
  • It is used in the Sewing Machine spool to create a clothing item.
  • It can be used in dyeing as a green dye at the dye pots in Emily and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.

Because Oak Trees are one of the more valuable trees to tap, Oak Resin is often worth setting aside rather than selling immediately. A dedicated grove of tapped Oaks provides a steady supply for Kegs, tailoring, and fish pond progression, while Heavy Tappers can speed up production on mature trees. Since the item is also associated with several crafting and quest requirements, it is a good idea to keep a small stockpile on hand once Oak Trees become part of a farm’s long-term production setup.
