Dried Spicy Tofu

Overview

Dried Spicy Tofu is a preserved food item produced and consumed in Oxygen Not Included. It functions as a compact, storable form of Spicy Tofu that can be reconstituted later. Dried Spicy Tofu is produced in the Dehydrator and can be converted back into edible Spicy Tofu using the Rehydrator.

A Dehydrator converts 6000 kcal worth of Spicy Tofu together with 12 kg Plastic into 6 units of Dried Spicy Tofu and releases 6 kg of Water as a byproduct. Each unit of Dried Spicy Tofu can be rehydrated in a Rehydrator by adding 1 kg of Water, producing one serving of rehydrated Spicy Tofu suitable for dupes to eat.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • Dried Spicy Tofu is primarily used for long-term food storage and transport because it occupies less kcal-per-item footprint than prepared meals and does not spoil in the same way as fresh food once dehydrated.
  • Plan dehydration around available Plastic supply; the recipe consumes a significant amount (12 kg Plastic per batch of six).
  • The Dehydrator produces Water during dehydration; route or collect this byproduct for use elsewhere or avoid flooding the production area.
  • Rehydration requires a Water input (1 kg Water per unit) and a Rehydrator building; ensure water availability where meals will be prepared for consumption.
  • Use Dried Spicy Tofu to buffer against food shortages, especially when duplicant schedules or resource shortages make continuous meal production difficult.
