Overview

Dried Surf'n'Turf is a shelf-stable food item produced by the Dehydrator from cooked Surf'n'Turf. One batch consumes 6000 kcal of Surf'n'Turf and 12 kg of Plastic to create 6 units of Dried Surf'n'Turf, while also generating 6 kg of Water as a byproduct. It can later be processed in a Rehydrator, where 1 unit of Dried Surf'n'Turf and 1 kg of Water are converted back into rehydrated Surf'n'Turf.

As a dehydrated ration, Dried Surf'n'Turf exists as part of the game’s preserved food chain rather than as a distinct meal type with its own preparation tree. Its main value is logistical: it lets players store prepared calories in a compact, non-perishable form and move those calories back into regular food consumption when needed. Because the conversion is reversible through the Rehydrator, it serves as a buffer between large-scale food production and immediate meal access.

The recipe also reflects the cost of preservation. Turning Surf'n'Turf into its dried form requires Plastic and produces water, so the process exchanges material inputs and liquid output for portable food storage. Since the recipe yields six units at once, it is efficient when the player has a steady supply of Surf'n'Turf and wants to stockpile food for later use.

In practical terms, Dried Surf'n'Turf is most useful when:

  • food production is strong enough to support surplus cooked meals,
  • long-term storage or transport is more valuable than immediate consumption,
  • the player wants to keep a reserve that can be rehydrated on demand.

Its rehydration step makes it less permanent than many other preserved foods, but also more flexible, since it can be returned to a ready-to-eat Surf'n'Turf supply whenever water and Rehydrator access are available.
