Night Helmet

Night Helmet is an item tied to the Night Realm and its associated progression. It is unlocked by reading the corrupted email on the only Email Terminal in the Night Realm and opening the attached file. The item can be obtained from several sources within that area and is also tied to Reaper farming, making it a renewable resource once the route is set up.

It can be dropped by the Reaper when exposed to X-Rays or lasers, although this drop has an approximately 2.5 minute cooldown. The cooldown can be bypassed by reloading the Security Sector, which can be done efficiently by entering and exiting the Night Realm through portals and then running to one of the Reaper spawn areas. With good pathing and mobility equipment, one Night Essence can be gathered at about every 30 seconds. Four can also be found in the Night Realm itself, and it is a possible drop from butchering Inkfish or from fishing in the Night Realm.

Night Helmet has several uses beyond collection:

• It is a vital component in crafting Nyxshade Seed, which can be traded with Warren in the Office Sector for a GATE Security Key.
• It is also used to repair one of the Flow Control Modules needed to activate a portal to Canaan within Cascade Laboratories.
• It can be traded with Warren Bunning for a Magnetic Alloy.

Because it is needed for both progression and trade-related crafting, it is worth stockpiling whenever you are already in the Night Realm. The Reaper method is the most reliable renewable source, while the fixed pickups and Inkfish-related sources are useful for early collection or supplementing supplies.
