Overview

Helium is an atmospheric resource used in Astroneer. It is collected from the atmosphere of certain planets with the Atmospheric Condenser, and it appears at two extraction rates in the source data: 25 ppu on one planet and 100 ppu on another. As an atmospheric resource, it is gathered rather than mined from the ground, and it is one of the few non-explosive atmospheric resources in the game.

Helium is used as an ingredient for crafting, although the available source table does not list any completed recipes here. In practice, that means it is a required input for at least one craftable item, and players should treat it as a progression resource worth storing once they can extract it efficiently.

Useful notes:

  • Helium must be obtained through atmospheric extraction, not by drilling terrain or harvesting flora.
  • Its 25 ppu and 100 ppu extraction rates indicate that availability depends on the planet, so location matters when planning collection.
  • Because it is non-explosive, it does not share the handling concerns of volatile atmospheric resources.
  • If you are setting up production, it is best to pair Helium collection with a dedicated Atmospheric Condenser and storage nearby, since atmospheric resources are gathered continuously rather than in single deposits.
