Overview
Atrox is a planet in Astroneer and one of the more hostile worlds to operate on. Its low sunlight and weak wind make it a poor place to rely on solar or wind power, while its surface is notable for abundant

Atrox has no notable surface resources, but it does contain four atmospheric resources that can be collected with atmospheric condenser setups. Their extraction rates are 25 PPU, 100 PPU, 50 PPU, and 75 PPU. Atrox is also the only planet that has

The Gateway Network on Atrox consists of six Gateway Chambers, and each chamber requires 30U/s of power for 30 seconds to activate. At least one chamber must be activated before the Gateway Engine in the core can be accessed. Once a chamber is powered, the Gateway Engine opens in the core. Placing a full canister in one of the engine slots reveals the Geometric Triptych, and placing that Triptych in the opposite slot activates the engine, revealing the Odd Stone and enabling teleportation to the core. This also reveals the inactive Gateway Portal node if it has not already been discovered.
Practical notes:
- Because solar and wind are both weak on Atrox, power setups that depend on either source are inefficient.
- Medium Generators and the RTG are the most reliable ways to meet the planet’s power demands.
- Atmospheric resource collection is essential if you want to unlock the core, since Atrox’s Gateway Engine cannot be activated without one.
- The planet completes a full rotation in 20 minutes, the same as Glacio.
- The name Atrox comes from a Latin word meaning savage, cruel, frightening, or monstrous, which matches the planet’s hostile environment.
