Novus

Novus is a planet in Astroneer and one of the worlds connected to the Gateway Network. It has its own set of regions, and its environment includes resources found in the cave layer as well as in the mountains and mantle layer. The planet also has two atmospheric resources available for harvesting: one at 25 PPU and another at 75 PPU.

Novus has two Gateway Chambers, and each one requires 21U/s of power for 30 seconds to activate. Activating at least one chamber is necessary before the Gateway Engine in the planet’s core can be accessed. A straightforward way to meet the activation requirement is to use three Medium Generators on a Large Platform B.

After a Gateway Chamber is activated, the Gateway Engine opens in the core. Placing a single resource into one of the engine’s slots reveals the Geometric Triptych. Placing the Geometric Triptych into the slot on the opposite side, above the player, activates the engine, reveals the Odd Stone, and enables teleportation to the core. If the Gateway Portal has not already been discovered, this also reveals its inactive node.

Novus is also notable for having been used as the basis for a similar planet during the Terrain 2.0 test in Patch 0.10.5.
